One rule of thumb with this league is that we match the majors.  Signing bonuses for 2009 draftees hit the 2009 books for a lot of teams in the majors.  The same thing will happen for the 2010 draft and our fantasy draft.

Then I guess the Indians will forfeit all there top picks. Unless I can dash some money before the deadline.

Remember that the cap hits from dropping players changes to 75-50-25% after the trade deadline.  Also note that you can drop some players right when the playoffs start and no one can get them because FA will be over.

that might be the only way I can get some money back.

Also, keep in mind that you don't have to draft a player who would be paid a bonus.

Everyone likes spending in FA or using cap space to gain a little extra value in a trade, but the bonus structure was made clear a long time ago and budgeting is part of the game... as Colby mentions, we've already delayed the draft past the MLB calendar, the 2010 draft should not be on the 2011 books.

Teams that do not have any cap room at all can pick any player outside of the top 64 at no cost - no picks need to be forfeited.
