Reds/ A's trade
« on: April 03, 2010, 08:19:59 PM »
Without further ado, I give you your 2010 AL West champs

The Reds send

SP Lincecum, Tim, $0.5m (P-2010)

to the A's for...

CI Smoak, Justin, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Myers, Brett, $3m (2010)
X-SP Myers, Brett, RS money from PHI, $-3m in 2010
P Cecil, Brett, $0.5m (P-n/a)
.5 mil in 2010 for Cecil
MI Izturis, Maicer, $1m (2010)
X-MI Izturis, Maicer, Revenue Sharing (LAA), $-1m in 2010

I do this because Smoak is awesome. I like Cecil, and the other two players are better than average, and at least my team won't go in the dumper (don't get excited Jake). Lincecum will be owed 23 mil at the beginning of next year, and it really came down to keeping him or Adam Lind and Josh Hamilton, I chose to keep the hitters. I was more than a few moves away from being a top tier team this year, so with this move, and a few others, the Reds franchise will be ready to become the Red machine in hopefully the near future. Sometimes you have to come to the realization that it just ain't in the cards. This also frees up some money for me next year when there will be more than a few decent FAs.

I would also like to thank everyone who made offers on Lincecum, this was not an easy decision. Viva la Garza!

A's to confirm

The Reds will also be dropping Brad Emaus, Kyle Russel, Rich Hill, and Jason Giambi

A's confirm.  Smoak was untouchable, but I had to give him up to get Lincy.  Obviously I make the trade to get one of the top SP options in the game.

I am trying to make Billy Beene proud with the staff of Lincy, JJ, Anderson, Porcello, and Liriano.  Piniero will be a good 6th starter as well.

Wow... the A's contend for the best rotation now.  I'm happy to see Lincecum exit the NL Central.

  • indiansnation: 2:15PM: The Dodgers announced this afternoon that they’ve placed right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list with triceps tightness. The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.
