Petition for an exception

Alright guys, I normally woudn't write this but I have been thinking about doing it for a week now.  My main issue was how I lost the rights to Jair Jurrjens.  I know the rule was changed and notices were sent out via pm, but I did not get them due to very severe and crappy life changes.  My fiancee of 4 years broke up with me in September and it destroyed all of my plans for where I was going to live upon returning to school, in addition to the emotional distress it caused.  Finances became tight and in order to move back to school I had to forgo internet and etc.  This really made i difficult to sign in and participate.  I did log in several times, Colby can attest to this, as I sent him a message letting him know I intended on being active still, and to hold my team.  This was in October.  I barely had enough time to send this pm, so I had no chance to review the 60+ pm's I had, of which the deadline changes were in.  Therefore I dont know why, I was unaware of the changes.  When I returned, some guys were okay with me making the extension for Jair, I believe due to the confusion surrounding the change of deadlines and etc.  i am asking you guys to please let me process this one move retro-actively.  I planned on making prospect extensions this spring/summer but they were being adjusted by the RC.  If you guys decide this would be absolutely unacceptable, so be it, but it was worth a shot.  Thanks for your time.

Im going to go out on a limb here and and be the first to reply, I dont know Joe in real life and this story could all be false (not that i am saying it is joe), having said this i myself believe the situation to be true. Having said that I would support letting him do this one more if it was a bunch of moves maybe not but this one. IDK how important my opinion is i am still one of the newer members but i have given my opinion and love the league either way. Just thought i'd speak my mind on this. Joe either way good luck man and i hope u get back to the top sometime soon

FYI, it is the responsbility of the GM to actually check league pages.  Rule changes regarding extension deadlines for expiring contracts were made in the Spring and announced to the league.  The PMs after the season were simply friendly reminders.

Well to be honest, rules haven't remained constant since I joined this league.  I know I wanted to make the extensions this summer but we were messing with the rules about prospect extensions and I couldn't.

I agree if we allow an exception it could open up a can of worms, but it also doesn't have to.  I would hope this league is about friendly competition and understanding that life gets in the way sometimes.  I understand your point though.

The FGM staff have discussed this and there will be no exception allowed on Jurrjens.  There were other instances this offseason of teams missing the deadline for one reason or the other.  Allowing this exception would be unfair to others and also would set a very bad precedent going forward.  It could diminish what a deadline is and allow for the structure of the league to be compromised. 

We do feel for you and hope that everything is getting better and that you are moving forward.
