Reds and Angels agree to the following:

Reds receive:
Johnny Damon $5.5 (2010)
Jeff Mathis $0.5 (P-2010)

Angels receive:
Ricky Romero $0.5 (P-2012)
Eugenio Velez $0.5 (P-2011)

I do this to bolster my starting pitching a bit.  Romero had a good first half, not so good second half last year, but he's young and I hope we see more of his first half ability.  Velez can go just about anywhere on my roster and is good filler.  Reds land a quality OF who will likely play well no matter where he goes, though signs point to Detroit or Atlanta.  Reds also needed a catcher, a definite upgrade to the emoticon he currenty has listed there on his depth chart.

Reds accept - but I think the emoticon is a better hitter than Mathis, although he did impress me in the playoffs, and always hit well in the minors, so who knows. It pains me to see Romero go, but with my current FA signings and trades, I should have enough young pitching for the future. Johnny Damon also holds a special place in my heart - he is known as the OMT - old man tout.
