Cubs confirm. My "Mark Prior Syndrome" is in full bloom and no matter how hard I try I just cannot give up on Alex Gordon. If you don't know what I'm talking about, be sure to check out my very first post on my blog at thefourthstarter.com. A shameless plug, I know. On a serious note, the Cubs need to make some bold moves to improve their offense and I believe that the acquisition of Gordon, who was once the game's top prospect and is still only 27 is well worth the risk. Cameron and Slowey are nice players but they are better suited to be on a better club than I currently have to offer. I take on some salary for 2011, but whats another 4.5m when a third of my payroll is already pledged to other teams or being wasted on players no longer on my roster. This is a boom or bust move, I realize that, but I feel it is certainly worth the risk, considering I did not have to give up any of my prospects in the deal. Thanks Colb, it has been a pleasure and I appreciate you working with me on this to once again allow my obsession to trump sound baseball decisions.
