VOTE - Weekly Innings Limit
« on: December 01, 2010, 01:23:23 PM »
The other poll appears to be favoring daily lineups because of the flexibility.  This opens up the door for streaming of SPs.  We have already voted against a weekly starts limit earlier in the fall?  What are everyone's opinions on a weekly innings limit?  This poll will run for no more than one week.

I vote Yes.

I am a big market team that can hord and roster many SP's. With that being said the first thought should be about the league, not our own teams. Something the politicians should realize. Anyway, I support an innings limit. However, I will only support if it is 65 or greater.

Cons
- You cannot hord SP's and stream start. (a good thing to me but a con to others)

The pros

- Would eliminate streaming of starters
- It will add value to SP's. Even tho this is a hitters league the value of good SP's will remain. Ex. say 70inn is the limit. take away roughly 10inn for your rp's. leaving you with 60 for your starters. Thats roughly 7 maybe 8 starts a week. That makes more in line with reality, and adds value to good SP's. Your not gona want to waste 6 innings on Some scrub for 30 points.
- In will allow all teams, even smaller market teams to have enough starters to fill the limit. The scrub guys i referred to above, will be of value to small market clubs who are not in contention.

I will vote 'yes' for an innings limit.  My example is simple:

Currently the Yankees own J. Santana, Z. Greinkie, K. Slowey, J. Lackey, and own the rights to J. Vasquez.

Current notable free agent pitchers are M. Buerhle, J. Garland, J. Beckett.

Current NYY cap space: $38.0m

In theory, NYY could spend over $10.0m per year for the notable free agents, and have eight quality starters on their squad.  Do we really want to have all eight starters accumulate points on a week to week basis for one team?

This example could be applied to any big market team with a sizable amount of cap space in any given year.

I voted yes but I have a question. Will this apply to only SP or will it include RP also?

It woud be sp and rp. There is noway to seperate the two in fantrax or any site that i know of.

There are minimums and maximums available for batters (AB), pitchers (IP), starting pitchers (Starts), and relievers (Appearances).

Just looking at that in Fantrax.
Looks like IP would include SP an RP. That would be OK, just a little more complicated. I wish we would just go to Starts and Appearances

Well the way that I look at it is if we have 8 different opponents in a week with the new scheduling, the IP should reflect that to make it more realistic. That would be 72 IP and I would add 3 more because of possible extra inning games happening. So my suggestion would be 75 IP limit for all pitchers.
