Why would I not have tenure or performance for this job?  Performance?

Judging by what Colby posted, your tenure is about 6 months less than the other candidates.

Upon thinking it over and over, I would like to withdraw my candidature. I have decided I do not want to leave the Jays mid-season while fighting for the pennant. If it had been in the off-season I would had surely changed teams because I have wanted to have the Dodgers ever since I joined.  Hopefully in the future the opportunity may present itself again in the future. Thanks for the consideration, and I am sure the team will be in good hands with whomever gets appointed from the group of candidates.

I will be honest, I dont have any attachment to the Dodgers in real life (or any team for that matter). My main reason for taking over the Dodgers is to play with a big market team for a change. I've always managed small market teams (COL here, MIN in AGM, 10 year + with Pirates) Managing the Dodgers comes with an unique set of challenges and greater expectation, both of which I embrace.

It's not like I am leaving behind a sinking ship either. I am tied for 1st in my division without Zimmerman/Wright/Hughes for much of the year,  the core is locked up for 2 more years, and I still have Belt/Teheran in the minors.

Chris, no offense, but your Padres have done worse as a MLB team since you took over.  I understand what you are doing with the farm, but the face of the franchise is the MLB team.  The franchise is probably in better shape than it was before, but your tenure with the organization is much less than other candidates.  There will, however, be a trickle down effect of GM positions in which will leave the likes of Chicago or Colorado open.

Daniel, I am surprised about you backing out, but I love the competitive spirit.  Rick has asked to be reconsidered with Daniel stepping aside from the competition.

It comes down to Howe and Rick.

As I said, if I were selected for this position it would not be without some anxiety over leaving Chicago. I've built what I believe to be a very good overall system with good talent at all levels, from "A" to MLB rookies and 2nd year players.
That's essentially why I play FGM, Prospectus, and soon, Armchair. As a frustrated MLB GM I like the farm systems and seeing what they turn into. Sure I want to win but I feel like that will come if you build the system right. The Dodgers have a very solid supply chain but there are a few changes I would make if given the opportunity.
As for Chicago, it was a very good and stable franchise when I took over and I don't think I've done anything to hurt that. I was in the playoff chase last year literally until the last week. This year should be pretty much the same( Last week was my 1st losing week this year.) 2012 starts with $38m gross and only 3 pertinient players with expiring contracts( A.Ramirez, J.Cueto and B.Matusz)so financially it is very stable.
I threw my name back in when Daniel withdrew. I think my credentials stack up well against the all the candidate but I know what a Dodgers fan Daniel is. If I'm not  mistaken I recruited him for his 1st league here (DME) in 2009. I can live with whatever decision is made but I'd hate myself if I didn't try.

Down to...

Howe Cheng :COL: h4cheng - Oct09, team regressed in 2010 but a top team this year
Rick Straus :CHW: BHows - Nov09, White Sox improved a bit under Rick
Chris Calcia :SD: joeshmoe - May10, team has gotten worse but farm has improved

Our candidates.... No offense to Rick and Chris, but Howe has the best qualifications.

Howe, would you accept this position? I think the Dodgers have been available long enough.  We can then discuss the Rockies GM position which I am sure Chris wants... Not sure on Rick or others.
