Dodgers GM seat
« on: May 18, 2011, 01:14:15 PM »
Gentlemen, M.J. is no ordinary inactive GM.  He has been here since the start, but he feels he doesn't have enough time for the league.  It is honorable for him to respond in such a way.  I would love to are him stay at ProFSL perhaps through Old School?  Rick, would you mind reaching out to him?  Here is his response to me...

This league demands a great deal of time and I don't have much to offer outside of work right now.  Given I don't think things will change in the near-term I'm okay with being replaced.  Thanks for the invitation and allowing me to participate, I'll be in touch if anything changes.

Short of managing his lineup for injuries, his team is pretty low maintenance - it's so strong, he doesn't need to be making deals.  Even with him pretty much a no show, the Dodgers 6th in the league in points.  He had pretty low activity at times the past two years as well and I don't think anyone can argue with the results.

I say we let him keep the team unless he willingly resigns or we see in a month or two from now his inactivity is really hurting the league.  I know some owners might be upset by not having a shot to trade for some of his players, but my guess is you wouldn't have a shot even if he were active (he has no need to trade the stars you're probably targeting).  Special treatment I know, but I think it's a special case.

I agree with Ben. The Dodgers need very little work. As long as his line up is filled out, and he shows up for the Entry draft and free agency, I have no problem with it.

So Mike willingly wants to be replaced, and we want him to keep his team?

What am I missing here?

Mike has actually offered to be replaced, correct.

No, if he wants to be replaced then thats fine he's out.  My take was that Colby asked him about his activity level and he said if we need to replace him he would not be upset.  However, it wasn't clear if he was actually offering up the spot, meaning if we told him it was fine would he still give it up?

I only wanted to voice that he's been very successful with his current activity level and there's no reason why that should change, and that we should make a decision that's fair to him rather than because we've got ten owners chomping at the bit for his championship squad.  He made a significant contribution to the start of the league and if he wants to keep his team we should let him.

If that's the case, then so be it.

Understood, Ben. I took what he wrote differently, that's all.

I can assure you, I'm not trying to run him out.

 :toth:

... with that said, if he really is out, we should certainly heed last week's controversy and publicly discuss candidates for his replacement.

FGM Conspiracy? The plot thickens......oh by the way, Doumit is on the block.*
