Should we do this?  It could be set up as it is in Fran GM (MLB).  We'd need to agree on positional values though.  Any thoughts?

Yes I fully think this would be a great thing to add to the league. Player will have to be established. Give me a few days and ill round up values. I think we all should and then agree on them once we form opinions.

that'd be very helpful

Heres my proposal.  Forwards make most money.  Goalies take get leverage, and defense gets cheaper but secures more people 1m.  Based on the passing of new scoring rules.

Is this based on scoring rank?

[joeshmoe]

Is this based on scoring rank?

30 teams x 3 starting centers = 90
30 teams x 3 starting RW = 90
30 teams x 1 starting goalie = 30
30 teams x 3 starting LW = 90
30 teams x 6 starting D = 180 but I decided only the top 100 should be mandated values.

just what I figured, that all starters should get good values.

Monetary values are based upon highest paid per position, I think, it was late HAHA

Bunches of questions come up.

As a whole, the salaries are too high. See here for comparison:
http://capgeek.com/leaders.php?type=CAP_HIT&position=All&max_results=50

NHL 50th richest player makes 4.75Mil. In our league that number is 7.5 Mil.

If anything it should be lower than the NHL because these are considered resigning salaries, not free market prices (i.e. player's get a home town discount)

Next question is can we overpay to get a longer extension if we want to do so?

Final question: how do we decide a player's salary if he's been injured? Do they get the same sort of deals? What do we do for people who aren't ranked i.e. Backup goalies.

Numbers can be adjusted.  Also remember we can adjust the salary cap here.  Either way its alright.

You can always overpay, even when you sign free agents.

determining player value, is the highest ranking over the past two seasons.  it could be an average but either way.

I think those are pretty good but theres a huge difference between LW and RW (which we might not want). Let me know what you think of them. If you want the spreadsheet let me know and I'll email it to you.

Thank you Ted, these look great.  Can we get votes to approve this?  Ted, if you want to, please attach the spreadsheet here in a post!  Need to get this done ASAP
