Nationals/Cardinals Trade

[RyanJames5]

:WAS: Receives:
Ryan McMahon 4(2026)
4M Pd in 2023
Austin Hays .5(2023)

:STL: Receives:
Kyle Manzardo .5(P-n/a)
Vaun Brown .5(P-n/a)
Wenceel Perez .5(P-n/a)

Cards didn't really want to trade Hays.  As an O's fan I'm very high on him and would love to have had room to extend him.  With the big 3 OF I have though, he was a luxury that I could sell to help add some pretty significant young talent to an injury riddle older roster. I think Brown could be a fair replacement for Hays in a year anyway...and Manzardo is the prize here. While Tampa can always be tricky with prospects, his bat appears to be elite and CI is a position of need now and in the future.

a.k.a. the I-64 to I-95 Trade

The Nats approve this trade.  McMahon is a very good, bordering on elite player with a very reasonable contract, and Hays is also very good with a not-bad resign value.  Losing Manzardo is painful but I will take the certainty of two guys that have shown it in the majors.

Thanks @RyanJames5 for the dialogue - good luck with the reload!
