Brooklyn Nets trade:
Jalen Suggs $5m (2025) RFA

New York Knicks make this trade to even out the roster as we are very PF/C heavy and could use another guard. This also saves us some cap space in future years, which is important.

Brooklyn does this to use one asset that is still 'hyped' and gain a real solid C and a flier on young player who will hopefully get a shot to prove himself in Utah this season.

Butler will be moved tp G-League pending approval of deal.

Just a note. Last season, we discussed about limiting back and forth trades, also because otherwise a trade risks to be judged not just on a standalone basis but as a sum of trades. In this specific case, Suggs has been traded back and forth in two weeks and the net trade is basically Markkanen for Siakam. We were just in doubt if we are voting a Suggs/Markkanen deal or a Siakam/Markkanen deal.
We do not want to open a discussion here but a clarification from LM about back and forth trades (are they fully allowed without any limitation, should they be judged on a standalone basis) in the Questions/Suggestions section will be appreciated
