Raptors/Nets Trade

[Gem9n9]

Toronto Raptors trade:

SG Kenyon Martin Jr. 2023 $0.5m

for

Brooklyn Nets trade:

PF Zeke Nnaji 2024 $1.7 RFA 2025
PG Daishen Nix 2023 $0.5m
2023 SAS 2nd
2024 ATL 2nd

Assuming league approval Raptors would drop Trevelin Queen $1.1m 2024 (i believe no hit - please confirm) and place Daishen Nix in G-League

Hard to let Martin go as he has youth and upside but the Raptors believe Nnaji will be similarly placed over the coming seasons and with the addition of some minor assets the trigger was pulled.

Thanks Nets for the amicable negotiations.

** I now see the double up re this trade.  Pitfalls of trying to work and trade at the same time  **

This might be an overpay, but the Nets like the upside of Martin and willing to gamble here. The picks will most likely be late and then the Nets have some PF to boot, so the team used one to get a young SF they covet. The slight salary relief also helps a bit.

Since Queen is G-League eligible he can be released for free.
