I believe that Zack McKinstry should have MI eligibility? He had 1 game at each 2B & RF last season in MLB. In 2019, he had 78 games between SS & 2B, 10 at 3B and 7 on the OF. I am just a little unclear on this.
Thanks!
Every player is entitled to at least one eligible position. Last season, we adjusted the position eligibility because the season was reduced to 60 games. By consensus, we agreed to the following because of the special circumstances surrounding the 2020 season.
“In our rules, a position player gains eligibility after 25 games. In a normal 162 game schedule, that is 15.5% of the games played. Our SP must have 5 starts and a RP must have 12 appearances (or 20 IP).
In a 60 game schedule, I believe for the 2020 season only, we need to reduce the eligibility thresholds to:
1: 10 games for position players (15.5% of 60 is ~10 games);
2: 4 games for SP eligibility;
3: 6 games for RP eligibility (or 10 IP)”
However, since the MiLB season was cancelled, we can only rely on 2020 statistics. We cannot refer to the 2019 season because we have always relied on the present and previous season—so with no MiLB, we can only go by 2020 statistics. During the 2021 season, we will revert to our standard eligibility thresholds of 25/5/12.
I will add MI eligibility to Zack McKinstry.
