Buffalo & Nashville Trade

[TheBeef]

Buffalo announces a deal to add more star power to our lineup.

:BUF-NHL3: Sabres get
Matt Niskanen, $5.5m (2014-2018)
Mike Hoffman, $4.5m (2015-2018)
Round 4 - 2018  from :NAS:

:NAS: Predators get
Jamie Oleksiak, $1.5m (2017-2020)
Jordan Martinook, $0.9m (2017-2019)
Timo Meier, $2.5m (2017-2018-EL)

We get more scoring and pay for the negotiating rights to Niskanen and Hoffman in their contract year while losing only 1 star from our roster. I like that. Predators to confirm. Thanks Burkes Boys.

I don't see how this helps Buffalo! But then again it's not my team.

:thumbsup::iatp: We're giving up a ton of scoring to get this deal done and deal with our cap situation. Never would've made this deal if not for the cap error. We get 2 depth players and Meier coming our way.

I think Buffalo can either sell one or both of these guys at the deadline as rentals to a contender and has the potential to get even more from what is already a pretty solid deal. Nashville was caught in a cap bind.

I am with ant though, feel as though Buf should of had the upper hand in negotiations, as Nash had to dump a lot of cap. A 2 win team just moved Meier, who can be extended long term for cheap....... and barely get any points in this deal (pretty much even). I guess points doesn't matter when your making no attempt to set team.

I won't comment on the trade but well said on the intentional tanking comment. There really needs to be some severe consequences put in the rules for that type of thing. Carolina was dead last last year but the lineup was always set and ready to go. The first pick should be reserved for the team with the least talent not the team that just decides their season is lost. Not saying that's what is happening in Buffalo but your not the first owner to suggest that to me.

:iatp: Yeah its like cake with no frosting. I like frosting

[jackdaniels]

:iatp: Not a bad trade but think BUF could've held out for bit more.

[TheBeef]

People, please.
If you think 1 draft pick will turn my team into a league juggernaut, then you're just out of touch with reality. Imagine a guy willing to pay to wait out a year and accumulate talent and assets to compete in yr 2. What's wrong with reloading sooner than later.

Live your fantasy, I'll live mine. Peace!

:iatp: Agree with Izaman.
