Mets/White Sox deal 7-31-17 10:50 pm ET

[Orange Country]

Mets trade:
CI Zimmerman, Ryan, $17m (2018)
X-Zimmerman, Ryan, Cash Exchange, $17.0m in 2017
SP Garza, Matt, $6m (2017)
X-Garda, Matt, Cash Exchange, $6.0m in 2017

Mets pay the rest of Garza's salary this year. The Mets also pay all of Zimmerman's contract for 2017 only.

White Sox trade:
OF Hill, Tyler, $0.5m (2021)
OF McCarthy, Joe, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Puckett, AJ, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Rutherford, Blake, $0.5m (P-n/a)

The Mets continue the purge of vets to get ready to see what 2018 can bring. The vets will help the White Sox compete and make a run in the AL Central.

All 4 prospects the Mets are receiving back are ascending in some form or fashion. The prize of the deal is Rutherford obviously who will give this team even more depth in the farm moving forward.

Thank you for the smooth talks LNL and good luck!

White Sox agree to this deal. It gives us the CI we have been looking for and adds an SP for the stretch if needed. While hanging on to the specs that I really like, but I do hate seeing Rutherford go. Hopefully, this works about for both teams involved. Thanks OC for the easy and quick talks.
