Players Out-Performing/Under-Performing Their Contracts

[rcankosy]

In a league like this, in my opinion sometimes we don't pay enough attention to salaries when we think of the best or worst players.  For example, I would prefer a cheap SP like James Shields over a better pitcher in real life like Roy Halladay.  Along those lines, I thought a fun topic would be a list of players out-performing or under-performing their contracts.  I would exclude players on prospect contracts or on the Disabled List from this conversation for obvious reasons.  Guys out-performing their contracts that came to my mind immediately are Jose Bautista (1m) and the aforementioned James Shields (3m).  Unfortunately, I don't have either of them!

On the other end of the spectrum would be someone like Jason Bay (13m).

I'd have to agree with you on the Jason Bay front... I cannot believe I traded for him. However, Alex Gordon's $0.5m contract kind of makes up for it.

Two words, Dan Uggla.

[bravesfan4]

under performing

Carl Crawford 14m
Werth 18m (doing good yes, but not worth 18m)
Ichiro 18m
Morneau 13.5m
Dunn 12m
Uggla 12.5

(I excluded pitchers because in our scoring system, no pitcher is worth 12+ mil)

Over performing

Francouer
Gordon .5
BAUTISTA (however, huge resign next year lol)  1m
McCann 4m

Just to name a few

[28]

Pujols at $27.0M was looking like a pretty big bust to start the season, but with 5 HR's in his last 4 games he's over 20PPG and hopefully getting back to his other-worldy self.
