The Pirates and Cubs have swapped places, and have agreed to the following 7-player trade that will help the Pirates as they push towards their championship goal for 2011:

Cubs send:
OF Cuddyer, Michael, $9m (2014)
+ $9m in 2011
SP Verlander, Justin, $18m
+ $12m in 2011

to the Pirates for:
P Crosby, Casey, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI Emaus, Brad, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Fox, Jake, $0.5m (2011)
P Guthrie, Jeremy, $4m (2013)
P Maya, Yunesky, $0.5m (P-n/a)

This deal helps relieve me of two large long-term contracts and will increase my ability to be salary flexible for the 2012 season, which in recent days has become a priority of mine. I also get back in return a back-end of the rotation starter and two very solid young pitching prospects that will give me increased depth as I look to make moves for 2012. Colby, a pleasure as always and I wish you luck on your championship run. I applaud your aggressiveness in looking to bring the Pirates back to prominence, a scenario which is long overdue, in my humble opinion.

I appreciate the king words Kris.  I lost some great young pitching here mainly to acquire Verlander who will most likely be a rental this year as I deal him in the future.  Cuddyer helps if healthy.  I am being VERY aggressive in the trade market. :toast:
