Cubs - Reds Trade

Cubs trade:
CI Medica, Tommy, $6m (2017)
SP Cain, Matt, $9.5m (2015)
CI Dean, Matt, $0.5m (P-n/a)
RP Veras, Jose, $0.5m (2015)

Reds trade:
CI Lawrie, Brett, $4m (2017)
SP Mateo, Luis, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Cubs accept. Lawrie's a gamble at this point, but he's young enough that I think his upside is still worth it. The core of the deal for me is Medica and Cain for a CI upgrade and a bit of cap space. Lawrie over Medica should solidify the cubs lineup. The rest the pieces were required to make us both comfortable with the trade and I think I will be able to replace them with the freed up cap space. Reds to accept when they can; thanks for the talks and getting something worked out.
