Trade Islanders - Hurricanes

[JohnnyWeissflog]

To :NYI:

Eric Staal, $8.3m (2011-2016)
Blake Wheeler, $7.1m (2014-2018)
Matthew Finn (2012: 2/35 - 0 Games)
Round 3 - 2014

To :CAR-NHL:

Logan Couture, $5.8m (2013-2017)
Brent Seabrook, $6.3m (2010-2015)
Round 4 - 2014

:NYI: add a couple of monster contracts, but also get more points. Really had no intention to trade both those studs, but SlackJack finally put a really good offer on the table and I couldn't resist.

I feel NYI is starting to shape up to a team I really like. Now we start hunting for a goalie

I gave a little bit more than I got but I'm in rough shape on my Blueline so adding Seabrook is a big step in the right direction. A bit of cap space doesn't hurt either!

Thanks to Johnny for the back and forth. Good deal mate!

:iatp: Sweet blockbuster! That breaks the tension around here! Canes save 4mil in cap. Both teams get allstars.

Anytime a team can move a large contract it is a victory. To move two said large contracts is a miracle. In this trade the Hurricanes take on large but not as substantial contracts in return while diversifying their talent and creating more cap space to complete future transactions to improve their franchise. Overall a great trade for the two teams.

I have to go with DD on this. I'll give the Win to :CAR-NHL: for clearing $3.3 million and getting one of the top defensemen out there. Canes are in business.

:iatp: Big trade guys! Not always easy to trade large contracts. Kudos to both teams for pulling it off.

In my book this is a close deal. Wheeler has been fantasy gold. Seabrook is a top 10 defenseman. Staal and Couture are a wash. For the cash difference Isles get a higher pick and the prospect. Keep it up gents. Lots of good moves this off-season.
