Brewers - Cubs Trade

[fperric]

Brewers trade Eddie Butler (PC)
                     Hunter Morris ($400K)
                     Michael Ratterree ($400K)

Cubs Trade Jeff Samardzija ($2.64M 2014, Arb 2015, FA2016)

Brewers do this deal to add a front line starter to Tanaka, trying to both stop my free fall from contention this season and set myself up for next season  Butler has more potential, and better pure stuff, but right now I need the sure thing in Samardzija, and I feel I can resign and keep through his prime.  Paying a heavy price, but I didn't have enough horses to land Darvish, and couldn't afford to miss out on Samardzija too.

Cubs agree.

My team is totally out of the race this season and i want to rebuild.
Samardzjia is a difficult player to part with since he's still young but tough choices need to be made sometimes.
The Brewers made an offer that will help me in my rebuilding process
I couldn't refuse.
