Nats/Reds come together at the trading table...again

[Dan Wood]

Reds get

SP - Doug Fister - $0.5m (P-2013)
MI - Chone Figgins - $3.0m (2011)

Nats get

SP Penny, Brad, $5m (2012)
3 mil paid by Red Sox
MI Hamilton, Billy, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Fuentes, Reymond, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI/OF Kotsay, Mark, $0.5m (2011)

Reds give up a lot of talent, but it is many years away. Hopefully Figgy will get good again, and turn into a Type A, and get me some draft picks to replace the loss of top touts. Fister is a nice addition to my rotation. I will now be looking to hire Don Aase as my pitching coach. If anyone can teach a Fister, it's an Aase. Jake to confirm.

Nats confirm.  Chone will likely be moving to CI after next season, and will be a re-sign I wouldn't be making if I chose to...Fuentes ceiling is a quality leadoff or #2 hitter with good defensive skills, and Hamilton is on some top 10 2B charts, and even a couple of top 100 overall lists, and decent MI prospects are hard to find in my opinion.

I'll see if I can move Penny, as he was included mostly to make money work.

Thanks Dan.
