Yuppers and I definitely know I am not the only person that read the same rule the same way. it is what it is i guess.
...Contract LimitsExcept for any contract inherited in 2010, all contracts must be no longer than five years. Also, for a given salary, all contacts (extension, FA) have term limits (maximum and minimum years contract can be per the salary) as provided below.Maximum and Minimum Salaries / Years (non-variable)<= $1.4m, 2 years$1.5m - $5.4m, 3 years$5.5m - $7.9m, 4 years>=$8m, 5 years (the overall limit)...

I think most (ones I'm in anyways) say basically the same thing as this rule, MINUS the "minimum" part...Usually (from my experience) it just says "maximum years" ... No mention of minimum.So then you could do the 1 year contract and then extend a guy ... So to speak. Kind of a loophole I guess but if you do have the cap room then it is potentially possible if the rules aren't in place to stop you...Could sign Marcus Foligno to a 1 year $17m contract if you had 17m or more in cap....Then 1 day later decide to "extend" his contract for a couple more years using the last 2 years of total FP numbers.Come to think of it - I should have done that in a couple other leagues, lol.No cap space now though
>=$8m, 5 years (the overall limit)
<= $1.4m, 2 years
..... 1 year 1 year!!!!
