Adam Henrique, $1.0m (2012-13)
2nd round draft pick

Chicago gets

Alex Pietrangelo, $3.2m (2012-13)

I feel this is a good trade for both teams. A little bittersweet trading Pietrangelo but he is due a big contract next year and for that reason was expendable and getting a young player like Henrique and a draft pick was good. Also cleared up $3.2m in cap space which will help me out with some moves I want to make.

I finally get Pietrangelo. Its true that his 6m resign is going to hurt but I really like this guy. I have so much depth at centre, so it made it easier to move Henrique.

I almost feel like Mariner could have gotten more for Pietrangelo, but if you look at his situation, this is more of an addition by subtraction. He can now bring up Tarasenko, Despres, AND he has cap to sign another defensemen or two when free agency opens up.

I feel like you could have gotten more, but I understand why you needed to do this

Depends on how Henrique comes back from injury but could be a good young add.

I really like this deal, basically because I see Mariner's motive with some qualioty in the minorsw, and cap space is VERY hard to clear in this league. I love Pietrangelo and feel he's the best player in the trade, but under circumstance and it is a good return as Henrique is a quality young player.
