Yankees trade:
OF OF Kiermaier, Kevin, $10m (2021) fully paid in 2019
C/CI/MI Kiner-Falefa, Isaiah, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Goodwin, Brian, $0.5m (P-2020)
Washington trades:
C Martin, Russell, $4.5m (2020)
CI Adams, Matt, $4m (2019)
MI Robertson, Daniel, $0.5m (P-2020)
MI Semien, Marcus, $1.5m (2020)
SP DeSclafani, Anthony, $5.5m (2019)
C Melendez, MJ, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Trammell, Taylor, $0.5m (P-n/a)
This trade allows me to flex my financial muscles and take on overpaid back up players in Anthony Desclafani, Matt Adams, and Russell Martin to fill holes in my roster. Taking on $16m in back up players isn't ideal but it is better than not having anyone at all. I hate to see Keirmeir go because I'm a big believer in any Ray's obstruction and I think he is going to bounce back and have a good year, so paying his salary isn't ideal but getting back a decent prospect in Taylor Trammell makes it easier. To me though, the biggest loss is Isiah Kiner-Falelfa. Not only will he outperform his projections, but he also qualifies as Catcher, Corner Infielder, and Middle Infielder which is huge. Let's also not forget that he's playing in Texas which is a launching pad for hitters.
Thanks for being patient and working through this with me.
