Maybe instead of the 6 teams or 1 pool we can have 2 pools.  An upper minors and a lower minors.  That way at least there's some differentiation and not just a big long list of players.  Put all your older guys, over 22 or 23 in the uppers and the rest in the lowers.  In excel it should be pretty easy to sort the age and divide it up.

1 big pool and no teams is easier for me!

That's what I had in mind when I proposed no age restrictions.  Processing transactions in Mendoza Line for a year has shown me that keeping a league of this scope up-to-date takes a TON of work.  Age restrictions just add to the workload.

I would just do it by position. Like we have but no Affiliates. If no age restrictions than no reason. Although it looks better with teams.

The biggest issue I had with Mendoza was not setting a full team like SD. Was a joke. The guy had like 2 MLB players.

That's what I'm going to do in ML.

I think if we still mean to uphold our claim as the "most realistic" league, then we should definitely keep the affiliates the way they are, as opposed to 1-2 big pools. Makes it easier to look at too. I would like to get rid if everyone's DSL teams, it just seems excessive to have so many teams. I have no problem however with uppering the age limits.

I think the depth is what makes it realistic. We are not actually developing the prospects so using different affiliates is unnecessary. Think of the pools as season long extended spring training.

I really enjoy the depth of the league, too. I enjoy having the affiliates and the age limits. It is a lot of work to administrate but having the age/roster limits is a similar mechanism as the salary-cap at the MLB level; it forces talent onto the free agent market. Either promote them or lose them, at the minor league level just as you either have to pay them, or let them walk in MLB.

Also, I don't see how raising the age limits would be less work to administrate unless we cut down on the number of groups we assign limits too. You would still have "limits" to pay attention too.

Maybe using the  same age limits for the entire groups including  the two DSL leagues along with the AZL league?  Raise the limit for them combined to 21 years old.

Then combine the two "SSA" leagues with the  "A" league teams into the same age limit grouping, and raising the age limit to 28 years old for any player in either league. Keeping the same affiliates would help the owners manage their assets by having the affiliate teams to help them keep track of a players development, but at the same time, administrative duties would be cut in half.

That would narrow the same number of players from 5 different levels into 2. We only have 2 age groups to worry about instead of 5. We could still keep the affiliates as they are now, which I feel makes it easier to manage my organization in categorizing value based on the player's actual level of play with their major league team.

With the new groupings and age limits, we would all control the same players longer, but with less work while keeping the minor league team affiliations so owners can judge talent based on the player's actual level of play within his organization.

Just thoughts...

The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.
