Flyers/Wild Mega Blockbuster!
« on: February 27, 2013, 03:05:24 AM »
Philadelphia sends:
Roman Cervenka, $0.2m (2014-15)
Marcus Foligno, $0.2m (2012-13)
Vinny Prospal, $1.3m (2012-13)
Michal Neuvirth, $1.2m (2012-13)
Jose Theodore, $4.0m (2013-14)
Darcy Kuemper, $4.9m (2012-13) $0.5m, (2014-15)
Matt Hackett, N/C (11 games)

Alex Chiasson, N/C (0 games)
Philadelphia's 2nd

Minnesota sends:
Alex Tanguay, $3.5m (2013-14)
Corey Crawford, $3.6m (2014-15)
*Jean-Sebastien Giguere, $3.0m (2012-13)
Mitch Wahl, N/C (0 games)
Duncan Siemans, N/C (0 games)
Minnesota's 5th

This deal is pending on Darcy Kuemper being completely resigned for the next two seasons.

And what a deal!

In this deal, I obtain one of the three best goalies in the game in Corey Crawford. In order to obtain him, I had to move 4 goalies! One of them is an aging vet and he is most likely done as a starter. Neuvirth is young, but he is not getting the quality starts that he did a couple seasons ago. He will rebound, but the Flyers cannot wait for that to happen.

And then there is the prized possession of my system - my Minnesota goalies! I knew any deal involving Crawford would have to involve these two, as this will give Norrya66 the best chance to obtain a starter within the next couple of seasons.

But I did say I wanted two pieces in a deal involving Neuvirth, so that is where Tanguay comes in. Tanguay is a strict upgrade on Cervenka, Foligno, and Prospal, which is why I had no problem handing Minnesota my depth. On top of that, there are still some solid trade and FA options available.

Wahl and Giguere were included to help make the numbers work in the AHL.

The pick swap was offered on my behalf to help seal the deal, and the prospect swap (Chiasson and Siemans) was offered on Norrya66's side, and I gladly accepted. We here in Flyerland have no problem waiting for Siemans to make his impact in the league.

Norrya66, it was great working with you on this deal! I am glad we got it done, and now, I feel that I am ready to bring the cup to Broad Street!

HOLY  :soapbox: that took a while to read over lol

Craw is playing LIGHTS OUT and Chicago looks like the real deal so I understand the amt given, Norry will benefit from this to help his rebuild and this makes a VERY scary team to play against.

I approve this trade.

This was a really hard deal for me to make.  Crawford is playing great, but I also believe he is peaked in value for the league.  He may stay there for a while, but into the next year or two, I believe this is the height of his value (I could be wrong).  I don't really like Tanguay, so I like the upgrade in depth, and getting some young guys.

The goalies is what sealed the deal for me.  I don't love Jose Three-or-More, but he will continue to get some starts in my opinion, so he will be a good fill in for this year.  I like Neuvy, I'm just hoping :WAS-NHL: does something with him to get him somewhere he can play.  He is still very young.  The :MIN-NHL: goalie tandem is the big piece for me.  I know Harding is there as well, but I believe one of these guys will be starting in the near future.

Plus the pick upgrade helped the deal.

Thanks for the easy and enjoyable transaction :PHI-NHL:!!!

Definition of selling high to me, I traded Crawford before and wish I could have gotten this value for him. Great for a 0-5 team to take the team in the right direction as well as this adds a future goalies that one of them will start in Minny. And pending extensions to Foligno and Neuvirth Minny should be set for next season.
As for Philadelphia they get a starter who is performing now for this season and Tanguay  :puke: (don't like the guy) and a future in Siemens. Don't scare too many people now Philly though.

BTW please take Brenden Dillon off as one of Ray Whitney's IR Replacements and place Jason Zucker back on there. Keep Brenden Dillon on the main roster.

Without this move, the deal would be invalid as I would be over the cap by 100k
