With the Marlins being in a state of proprietorship, there has to be an effort to rebuild the roster to make it more attractive for a future GM.  The Marlins have a limited budget and the roster has a lot of needs.  This trade gives the team an OF on an expiring contract that can probably be extended at a reduced rate, a SP/Long Reliever, and a prospect for the cost of a low level prospect.  The Indians get two prospects for some cap relief and the Giants get some roster depth and opens up some roster spots.
