Buckets of Dimes: Completed Trades / Re: Hawks/Wizards deal« on: January 02, 2020, 04:44:02 PM »Picks in 2021 and onward are more valuable in that the league might change the one and done rule letting high schoolers be drafted. Whichever season that is (one of 2021-2024 probably) will have a draft featuring 2 classes of players. So this being a 2021 pick instead of 2020 is something of note. 85

I have to believe that Griffin hasn't fallen off as much as his stats this season indicate, he's too good. He and Lopez should combine for a very strong addition to any competitive team. I feel like those two are worth a lot more than Thomas Bryant and others. Sorry to hear that better offers haven't been received, but hopefully that changes after this deal gets seen by folks.

Buckets of Dimes: Completed Trades / Re: Washington/Vancouver trade« on: December 21, 2019, 02:52:51 PM »Still consider Grizz getting the much better value, but a 2nd rounder being thrown in makes me feel a little better. Wizards are obviously maneuvering for the future, and if Gallinari doesn't hold a place in it, then an extra pick will and maybe Zhaire can carve out a role on his next team. Definitely don't love this trade, but it just barely flies in my book. 90

This one hurts because I used to be attracted to Zhaire's upside, and to be fair to Wizards, he's a lot younger than Gallinari... But this just doesn't feel right. Zhaire is young but has regressed every year he's been in the league, and not only can he not carve out a role on a thin 6ers bench, he can't even find consistent minutes/production for their G-league affiliate. We have unrostered and unsigned players currently well out-producing Zhaire, and his seemingly only remaining upside is his former draft status. I really don't see much value going Wizards' way, and Gallinari is a solid contributor on a very nice contract.
Not sure how many other Zhaire fans there are, but being one who is also realistic I'm gonna have to go |
