Franchise GM: FGM Commissioner News & Tid Bits / Re: Do We Want a TC?
« on: June 29, 2011, 10:54:49 AM »
Well said.  I think that any major changes to the league should be run through the rules commitee.  Why have a rules committee if we are not going to use them when making major changes to the league.  I also don't quite understand why the sudden urge to change the TC when it seemed to be working.  I am all for improving the system if it really needs to but to change this just because a few trades were vetoed doesn't seem to make sense.   I also don't really like the idea of taking the TC out of the league.  I feel like the people in the league would have a better understanding of the league and what the teams making the trades are trying to accomplish.  It would be alot of work for people outside of the league to fully understand FGM and then do the research into looking at both teams and the scoring of the league and how this impacts the trade.  I would like to see the TC in FGM continue in its current form through the end of the year.  I would also like to see the RC discuss the TC and decide if the process needs to be overhauled completely or just minor tweaks done to make it better.  I am not in favor of outsourcing the TC at all.  I also like the idea of supplying new GM's with a mentor in the league to show them the ropes and help them better understand the league.
:iatp: well said Bob

What I mean to say is that with such a low innings limit, we will have weeks when we do not meet the maximum and we won't be able to compensate with the weeks in which more innings are pitched. 5 starts in one week is not enough if each SP throws only 5 innings and your RPs have a lazy week in which they throw only 5-10IP. That means you have a 35 to 40 IP week.  Or what happens when you have a pair of weeks in which three or four of your starters are injured - as often happens? In the long run you may end up pitching less than the actual MLB average of IP per week. I think it is better to have an ample amount of IP. Another option would be to limit the amount of IPs for the whole season instead of on a weekly basis. I think the problem that needs to be addressed is pitcher streaming by those teams who have 10, 12 starters every week. It is much better to limit the amount of pitchers used every week than to limit the amount of innings per week to such a small number.

  • indiansnation: 2:15PM: The Dodgers announced this afternoon that they’ve placed right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list with triceps tightness. The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.

  • indiansnation: Mookie Betts was hit on the left hand by a Dan Altavilla fastball today, causing Betts to drop to the ground in immediate pain and then leave the game.  Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters (including Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times) after the game that Betts has a fractured bone in the hand and will be out of action “for some time,” though the former AL MVP won’t require surgery.
