even if mason is only 23 let me remind you of a goalie name Jim Carey who stole the starting job of ollie the goalie (olaf Kolzig) in 94-95 at age 20 then won the vézina trophy in 95-96 at age 21 and losing his # 1 spot to olaf Kolzig in 96-97 at age 22 after that he never got a starting job again
and for those who are thinking he ( mason ) still is # 1 go to youtube and type '' Scott Howson Report - April 2012 '' and listen to the goalie situation at about 1m40sec in then come and tell me he is the MAN for the blue jackets
I can't approve this deal. As of today Mason to my knowledge is the starting goalie. A player for a starting goalie is not a fair trade.
so after the 1st of july if Mason is not the starting goalie what will i get for him ... a bucket of puck and a roll of hockey tape ... i m in a situation were i don t have any cap space ( thanks to Gilly ) and in need of players and draft pick ... i m trying to get this team on track even if i have to take some chances

i made this trade cause mason (calder year) days are over and won t be back in CLB next year ... so were does he go now ? minors , KHL or # 2 in NHL ... just hoping he does not make an Elliott of himself cause i will be the big loser in this one

i had a pretty decent offer from SlackJack too but the fact that i get a LW playing this season was a big + for me . i traded Kadri cause i think he still is the 5th center in the leafs depth chart behind Bozak who had an awsome year last year ,Grabovski who signed a big contract last season,Connolly who still has a year left in his contract and same thing with Lombardi . Now i have full roster 3C-3LW-3RW and 6-D it s a good start for me ... still a have lots of work to do but i feel i m getting in the right direction

with this trade i get my self a good winger in Danny Briere , a decent prospect in Pitlick , a draft pick ( i am missing some ? )... and Chad Johnson who is UFA this year same as Biron so i might get a 10% chance he get s the 2nd goalie job under Lundqvist and for all that i had to give BIG JOE ... nothing is free
