Ottawa announces a trade with izaman3's Penguins.
We were approached by Pittsburgh who were looking to put his stamp on the team he just took over. At the same time my Sens are always looking to make adjustments to our roster and possibly position ourselves for another deal.

Each team is moving a Defenseman and a Forward. It couldn't be anymore straight forward.

We also realize Garrison is due a $6.3 Million extension next season which we will be able to fit under our cap.


Dealt to Pittsburgh
Defense Andrei Markov, $1.8m (2013-2014)
Right Wing Brad Boyes, $4.1m (2014-2015)

Coming to Ottawa
Defense Jason Garrison, $0.2m (2011-2012) - Contract Expires 8/4/2012
Center Maxim Lapierre, $1.7m (2013-2014)

Detroit gains $7.3 Million in space cap room
Left Wing, Andrew Ladd, $7.0m (2014-2015)
Right Wing, Bobby Butler, $0.2m (2013-2014)

To OTT $14.5 Million
LW - Jan Mursak, N/C, (44 Games)
Ales Hemsky, $4.1m (2011-2012) - Contract Expires 8/4/2012
Bruno Gervais, $4.1m (2012-2013) He's a Buy-out
Kimmo Timonen, $6.3m (2012-2013)

Detroit approached us looking to deal. We have cap  space to offer and take on a bad contract or two. This deal hopefully accelerates our team's rebuilding process a little. Our trade partner clears a nice amount of cap to resign some of his players as well.

The Ottawa Senators confirm!
We are fine with the 14th overall selection in the first round.

We make this trade to add an up and coming goaltender in Holtby and a solid top six forward in Read.

It was a lot tougher giving up the 1st pick overall in Nail as well as Granlund who should be in good hands playing alongside Parise, Koivu, Heatley and company in Minnesota this season for the NHL's Wild but we like the package of building blocks coming to Ottawa.
