Franchise GM: Invalid Transactions / 2011 Draft Order« on: December 27, 2010, 02:10:45 PM »
Has the 2011 draft order been established and/or posted? I think we need to know it before we bid on RFAs since certain first round picks are protected.

Franchise GM: Invalid Transactions / What the Free Agent Class Might Have Looked Like« on: December 27, 2010, 09:06:59 AM »
Somehow, I can't help but wonder how loaded this FA class would have been if we had the same rules in place as the major leagues. Guys like Cliff Lee, Gollardo, Prince Fielder, and Jayson Werth would probably have been FAs. Sorry guys, I still believe that we should not allow teams to trade or re-sign their expiring contracts after the season.

Franchise GM: Invalid Transactions / Keith Law Speaks out on New Stats in ESPN Chat« on: December 23, 2010, 02:44:57 PM »
Finally, someone famous said what I've been thinking.
Steve (Middletown, CT) In regards to BABIP it seems that if I was to start a game for the Boston Red Sox and threw 60 MPH meatballs over the plate all day I would give up substantially more HR/FB and have a higher BABIP than what we currently expect from ML pitchers. With that in mind should we expect more advanced metrics like BABIP and xFIP to normalize only at the highest levels of the sport? Klaw Agreed. I'm not certain that those stats will even work correctly for players right around replacement-level. Did Pitcher X have a high BABIP because of bad luck/defense, or because his stuff just isn't good enough to get big league hitters out? |
