Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Invalid Transactions / Posting Format (6/6/12)« on: July 17, 2011, 06:44:23 PM »
Trades
Subject The subject should state all teams that are involved in the trade. EXAMPLE: Trade Between the New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers and the Seattle Mariners Body The body of the post should list out which organization is receiving which players, cash, and/or draft picks. If the trade involves more than two organizations, please list out for each team which players they are receiving and which players they are trading away. Each GM involved needs to post a reply confirming the trade they agreed to is what’s stated in the thread. They also need to state the reasoning behind the trade for your organization; if you were the GM and on your local sports talk show giving an interview, what would you say? This will help the trade committee understand why the trade should be approved, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the players involved. Waiver Posting Subject The body should list the team waiving the player and the player being waived. Body N/A Waiver Claims Waiver claims are to be posted as replies to the thread started by the GM waiving the player. Body The body of the post should contain the name of your team. Promotions from Minor Leagues Subject The subject should mention the name of the team and the player. Body The salary should be listed. Demotions to Minor Leagues Subject The subject should mention the name of the team and the player. Body N/A Releases Subject The subject should state the organization and the player being released. If the player has a salary for that year, the team must pay the salary for the entire year. Body If the player has a salary for the current year, the team must pay the salary for the entire year. This must be noted in the body of the post. Free Agent Signings Free agent signings are not to be posted on this board. All bids are to be placed in the "Free Agency" board. The final bid and signing will be noted in the Transactions Log by the Commissioner's Office. All international free agent offers should include a link to a respectable baseball news website describing the player and/or signing. Draft Pick Signings Draft pick signings are not to be posted on this board. All draft picks are to be placed in the "Draft Room" board. The Commissioner's Office will add this information to the Transactions Log. 187

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Archives / New Co-Commissioner« on: July 05, 2011, 07:33:24 PM »
Eric (Shelby) has graciously volunteered to help me out as co-commissioner of this league. Don't be surprised to see his name pop up more often in terms of league administration. I am very happy to have him on board. Thanks Eric

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Transactions / Organization Selection Thread« on: July 02, 2011, 08:32:50 PM »
Select your team by posting your choice in this thread as a reply. The order of selection can be found on this thread: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=21878.0
Please read the League Constitution carefully before selecting your team. If there are any questions at all regarding the constitution, please bring them up immediately on the forum. In order to give people time to get acquainted with the rules, we are not imposing a time limit on selections for now. However, if a GM is on the clock and has not responded to any contact by the Commissioner's Office in three days, a team will automatically be chosen for him or her (best available team based on the 2010 final standings). Keep in mind that the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are already over the salary cap of $125M, so be wary if choosing them. The Yankees are over by $38M and the Red Sox by $7M, even after removing the salaries of players who will be leaving due to free agency. The rosters and salaries are here: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=22560.0. I will update the spreadsheet with the contract information from the PDF file when I have the time, but it will not be any information that is not already available in league. I will unlock this thread on Tuesday July 5th, so GM's can start choosing their organizations (I am not starting selection now so people take the time to read the rules). Good luck and let's have some fun! Selection Summary NL East Atlanta Braves - Rick (Bama) Miami Marlins - Cliff (snbts) New York Mets - Manny Philadelphia Phillies - Jake (sportsgm) Washington Nationals - Dana (BurritoT) NL Central Chicago Cubs - Brent (franchise77) Cincinnati Reds -Wyatt (snubbs1) Houston Astros - Kenny (kenny) Milwaukee Brewers - Eric (Two Point Diversion) Pittsburgh Pirates - Matt (MVpunisher) St. Louis Cardinals - Sean (Sdobelman21) NL West Arizona Diamondbacks - Paul (Paul S.) Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Archives / Internal or External Trade Committee?« on: June 29, 2011, 11:34:12 PM »
I see other leagues have discussed the possibility of utilizing a trade committee utilizing outside members (the ProFSL TC or PTC). See this thread for Franchise GM League's discussion of this topic: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=24345.0
I have mixed feelings on this as both options have their pros and cons. Letting outside members vote on trades may eliminate the possibility of biases, but they may also not know the real value of a player in this league. Yes, they are supposed to be well-versed in each leagues rules, but how effective can that really be without participating in it (in a league with custom rules)? While I do have my opinions, this is definitely open for discussion and I'm open-minded. |
