To :PIT-NHL::
C Joe Thornton, $7m (2013-2014)
LW/RW Ryane Clowe, RFA, $0m this year
G Harri Sateri, $m (P-n/a)
Round 3, Pick 1

To :FLO::
LW Chris Kreider, $0.2m (P-n/a)
D Simon Despres, $0.2m (P-14/15)
C Brock Nelson, $m (P-n/a)
G Mark Visentin, $0.2m (P-n/a)
Round 1, Pick 10

:FLO::
It took a while of back and fourth to get this one done and sealed.

Obviously continuing with getting younger and hopefully competitive for down the road for :FLO:.

Some of the reasoning that got it done was within the draft picks:
The first round and half of our second round is all 1st Round draft picks in this year's actual NHL draft....
Basically all our draft picks in our league are 1st and 2nd round picks - all great prospects. So even my 3-1 pick is at worst the 10th pick in the 2nd round of the NHL draft.
Add in a couple teams picking up other prospects and players with 39 or under NHL games played, and it could viably be a top 5 2nd round NHL pick from this year's draft, or even a late 1st rounder if teams like other unclaimed prospects.

:PIT-NHL: is going for it this year, so Thornton and Clowe help out their cause huge. Thornton's contract (re-sign) will go down next year too, easing the cap, and Clowe is a reasonable contract, especially for his dual wings and given how he did with NYR this year after the trade from SJ.

Kreider and Despres still need some more seasoning to fully fulfil their potential, and I can wait for that. Nelson hopefully can be a part of that young group in NYI that is up and coming. Hopefully he can find a spot though, as they are stacked at C with Strome coming up as well and ahead in the depth charts. We'll see how that plays out. And with Visintin, I can wait for him. All experts say he needs at least 2 more years in the AHL to grow into a pro game, and it's not like they need him with Mike Smith as their man, so he's also a work in progress.

Again, it's a case of a team going for the championship (:PIT-NHL:), versus a team going for it in 2-3 years (:FLO:) (or more, haha).

:FLO: receives:
G Jacob Markstrom, $0.2m (P-n/a)
LW Milan Lucic, $4.3m (2015-2016)
D Braydon Coburn, $3.5m (2014-2015)

:BOS-NHL: receives:
X-G Brian Elliott, RFA, $0m this year
LW Dany Heatley, $7.5m (2013-2014)
RW Devin Setoguchi, $2.7m (2013-2014)[/b]

:FLO:
Continuing with our youth movement here.
Markstrom was the main target as a young up and coming goalie. He'll struggle for a few years getting used to the NHL and playing on a weaker team, but once Huberdeau and either Seth Jones/Nate McKinnon grow up, along with the other young Panther prospects, I think he will do great things. At worst, hopefully he'll be like Luongo when he was in Florida...
Lucic is a nice pickup.... Only because I'm hoping he gets back to at least 20 goals in a full season and hasn't hit his ceiling of potential just yet.
Coburn was basically tacked on for :FLO: to take back cap and a roster spot. Zero interest in him or his contract, but this is a re-build, so the contract can be sucked up while younger pieces are put around him, at which time he will just be released

Going back, Heater is expensive for 1 year, but barring a huge huge season next year, he'll be cheap to re-sign. Using this past season, it's only 1.1m, so he might check in around 3-4m next year. Not bad considering what he's done in the past, and it's not like he's THAT old just yet.
Losing Seto and Elliot were the big pieces, but I get my guy in Markstrom (to put a face to the :FLO: franchise.... helps he's actually a real-life Panther too!).

Took a bit to get done b/c it's Markstrom, but Rob got the pieces he wanted, for a run at the title next season.

To get above the league salary cap min. (and to meet the minor league roster allowable players) we'll sign these prospects and bring them up to the NHL Club:

C - Jonathan Huberdeau (2011: 1/3 - 0 Games)
1-year contract. Drafted 3rd, so $3m per year deal.
C - Jonathan Huberdeau, $3.0m (2012-13)

D - Griffin Reinhart (2012: 1/4 - 0 Games)
1-year contract. Drafted 4th, so $3m per year deal.
D - Griffin Reinhart, $3.0m (2012-13)

D - Matthew Dumba (2012: 1/7 - 0 Games)
1-year contract. Drafted 7th so $2.5m per year deal.
D - Matthew Dumba, $2.5m (2012-13)

Quote
Entry Level Contract Values
Draft Position (actual NHL pos.) - Salary
1 thru 5 - 3.0M
6 thru 10 - 2.5M
10 thru 20 - 2.0M

Colorado Avalanche are getting:
D - Scott Mayfield (2011: 2/34 - 0 Games)
D - Matthew Dumba (2012: 1/7 - 0 Games)
LW - Alexandre Mallet (2012: 2/57 - 0 Games)
:CHI-NHL: Round 1 - 2013
:CHI-NHL: Round 2 - 2013

Chicago Blackhawks are getting:
Pascal Dupuis, $2.8m (2013-2014)
Nathan Gerbe, $2.5m (2014-2015)
D - Michael Paliotta, N/C, (0 Games)
D - Cameron Gaunce, N/C, (11 Games)
D - Colby Cohen, N/C, (3 Games)
:COL-NHL: Round 4 - 2013

For the Avs, this is clearly about selling players to get younger and to get some good (hopefully) prospects.
Not going to do any damage this season so we are solely building for the future.

:COL-NHL: Gets:
G - Eddie Lack, $0.2m (2012-2013)

:WIN: Gets:
RW - J.T. Miller, N/C, (0 Games)
D - Jordan Schmaltz (2012: 1/25 - 0 Games)
D - Jason Demers, $2.0m (2014-2015)

:COL-NHL: has a full minor league squad right now, this helps alleviate some of that. We will still have to drop a couple.
Yes, Miller & Schmaltz are top-end prospects, but goalies seem tough to come by in this league and we like Lack - Not to mention we have Schneider, so in 2-3 years time, we hope that the two of them will still be a strong duo on the Vancouver Canucks.
Losing Demers kind of sucks too, but reket needed D depth as well, so we were willing to part with the young Demers to make this deal happen.

Clearly we're not going to come close to contending this year and probably next, so we can eat the roster spot of Lack in the meantime, and hope he comes through to team up with Schneider!

Thanks reket.
