I was really hoping Florida would take a forward with the 1st pick in the NHL draft, but oh well...

I have a lot of good D and a lot of good young D, and I feel that I need more firepower up front, so we're swapping the 1st and 2nd overall 2014 NHL picks here.
Given that I have a lot of draft picks next year (and probably not a lot of roster spots opening up), I was dealing in a position of surplus of draft picks... So while they are nice to have, I still have a ton more in 2015 so these ones were expendable.

Took a few messages to get the picks sorted out, but I'm satisfied.

We wanted to sell some current and next year picks to get 2016 picks, since we have a ton of picks between 2014 and 2015 combined so far.
Also add another goalie that will get games next year and beyond.

Slowly going to try to turn this team into more of an NHL based roster rather than an AHL/Junior based roster!

I guess since others are doing it, I'll try to maximize my cap situation for the future.

I'd like to take a year off of Kyle Quincey's buy-out, and put $2.3m of my remaining cap towards his buy-out so it ends a year sooner.

So I guess it would end up looking something like Detroit's Myers buy-out:

X-D Kyle Quincey, Released contract through 14/15, $4.6m this year
X-D Kyle Quincey, Released contract through 14/15 ($2.3m starting in 14/15), $m this year

For what it's worth, if I'm allowed to maximize my cap this year, if I am allowed to tack on the remaining $0.2m I have in cap towards the buy-out this year I might as well do it:

X-D Kyle Quincey, Released contract through 14/15, $4.8m this year
X-D Kyle Quincey, Released contract through 14/15 ($2.1m starting in 14/15), $m this year
