Dynasty NHL: Archive / Regarding trading cash/cap space« on: August 22, 2011, 02:01:26 PM »
A while ago someone had asked whether they could trade any combination of players, picks and cash and my response was 'yes'. I hadn't really thought through how to handle the cash transaction at that point and shortly thereafter a trade was made exchanging straight up cash. I handled this by increasing one teams salary cap and decreasing the others. There's a few problems with this method. For one this isn't how it's done in the NHL, teams trade cash to pay down contracts but they don't trade cap space. Also it's hard to track. The cash transactions that have been processed were one time exchanges but future transactions could span multiple years and there's no way for us to really keep track of this on the spreadsheet.
I'm proposing any future cash transactions must be associated with a contract. This way the cash transaction will follow the player and we don't have to mess with the cap. All deals that have been processed wouldn't be changed, but going forward there will be no changes to caps and at the end of the season will all be reset to $70m. This makes things easier for us and makes more sense with how things are really done in the NHL. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks, Rob 1249
Dynasty NHL: Completed Transactions / Bruins/Avalanche trade« on: August 18, 2011, 01:52:15 PM »
receives D Kyle Quincy, $3.1m (2011-2012) & 7th round pick #14
receives a pat on the back Quincy is likely out for the season so I am taking on his contract in exchange for a draft pick. Quincy could be a productive defenseman in 12/13 and his extension will be cheap so I don't mind having him on the books this year. Also if Savard retires I'll be able to store Quincy on my LTIR. I think it's a win win. Colorado to accept. 1250
Dynasty NHL: Archive / Positions on your rosters« on: August 18, 2011, 10:55:54 AM »
A lot of them are not current. It would take me a ton of time to audit them all so if you see a position discrepancy between Fantrax and your roster page you can post on the transaction board and I'll fix it. Keep in mind the positions shown on your roster pages have no bearing on their eligibility, so you can leave it as it is, but if you want it changed for aesthetic reasons or whatever just make a post.
