If anyone is interested in making a deal for Eric Staal LW $8,300,000 (15/16) i'll take some offers for a 1st rounder and a return player.

Hurricanes trade: Brandon Sutter (FA) and their 4th round 5th pick
for
Habs: 3rd round 9th pick
I get a higher round pick that I can choose a more established player and the Habs get a good young center a mid round pick

I'm not on the trade committee but I think this trade is crazy lopsided. Malkin had a terrible season last year, and without a freak knee injury would've had a more productive season that Chris Stewart has ever had. A straight up trade makes sense, because the cap dump compensates for the skill difference between the 2 players, but to also add a 1st round pick seems too much. Just my 2 cents as a fellow manager.

I am pretty sure Calgary already traded their 2nd round pick to me a little bit before this trade. Unless they scooped up another one in a different trade.

Hurricanes trade: LW Jussi Jokinen (FA) & LW Erik Cole (FA) & D Jamie McBain (900K 11/12)
for
Flames: RW Rene Bourque (3.3m 15/16) & D Robyn Regehr (4m 12/13) & 2nd round pick
The Flames get a bit of cap space with the option of signing 2 top wingers and I get a 2nd round pick and a solid RW which I need.
Gilly is shaking this league up.

Hurricanes trade: D Tim Gleason and this years 5th round pick
for
Blackhawks: G Cristobal Huet and this years 2nd round pick
This should help out the blackhawks cap crunch and I scoop up a higher round pick.
Win, win

I have lots of salary cap room and roster spots, so I am looking to perhaps take on some of your unwanted salary players in return for a pick, or perhaps just a straight cash for pick option if that is allowable.

I think Robo said you can stop drafting in any round you want, but you can also draft rookies from this years draft that perhaps another team didn't add to their team. So between rookies, that add very little to the cap, and NHL players I think 10 rounds is good. Especially since a few teams will have many roster spots to fill, like myself.
