Tampa/Baltimore Deal
« on: August 18, 2019, 01:19:49 AM »
:TB: receives:
Chance Sisco c .5(p-2023)
Stevie Wilkerson mi/of .5(p-2023)
Dwight Smith of .5(p-2023)

:BAL: receives:
Oscar Mercado of .5(p-2023)
Nick Solak mi .5(p-n/a)
Greg Jones mi .5(p-n/a)
Nick Schnell of .5(p-n/a)
Sandy Gaston p .5(p-n/a)
JJ Goss p .5(p-n/a)
Ben Brecht p .5(p-n/a)
Joe Ryan p .5(p-n/a)

:BAL: makes this trade to continue to diversify and build my minor league system. Knowing I won’t be competitive next year, means guys like Wilkerson and Smith who can be great role players, are more valuable to me as trade pieces. So I sell both of them, as well as Sisco, who I still believe will be a very solid Catcher. I love the potential of Mercado as well as the high upside of the group of minor league players I grab.

:iatp: Sure, I don't see too much upside in the guys going to Rays compared to that of Mercado but if both teams are happy no issue

Mercado by himself is worth more than what's coming back to Tampa imo.
Trading Mercado with a zillion prospects and retaining players like Bruce, Arrieta, Santana, even Gurriel, just makes little sense to me.

It's the Mercado's of the world you've got to learn how to retain imo Brian.

I hate that you continue to gut these young assets and retain the old ass ones.

All that said you've got the right to try and prove me wrong.

  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.
