This poll has not been particularly helpful. Right now, we have a tie between 1 in the first week and 1 amnesty, with the 50% buyout not far behind. Lets hear some arguments before we make the tough decision of what to go with.

I voted for 50% buyout. I like that option because there is more accountability held for contracts given even if it was a previous owner.

That said, if I had to pick between the two options leading the vote I would definitely pick the 1 in first week option.

I really don't like the 1 amnesty for everybody option because I could see someone signing a player to a crazy 5 year contract in order to make a title run knowing they can just amnesty 2 years down the road. Even if it's only for players currently signed I still don't like it as it might be hard to track a few years down the road.

We seem to be attracting new members fairly well as it is so I wouldn't want to incentivize it too much. The bigger issue is keeping members which is a more complex problem to solve.

To keep with the idea of simulating MLB the contracts are guarenteed and are not easily voided.  Contracts, on the other hand, are common with team options with a buyout if declined.  I think the buyout option is closest to actual MLB practices while also being most fair to owners who have been around for a while and responsible in giving contracts. It also keeps a level of accountability throughout the league while offering relief to bad contracts which at times are no fault if our own.
