Rules & Regulations
- we will NOT use real money. All bets are made with play money called Backyard Bucks. (BB)
- nobody can place bets on any game that their own team(s) are involved in.
- minimum bet is 5 BB and maximum will be 200 BB. All bets must be in multiples of 5.
- cannot combine any two bets together like a parlay bet.
- you can place up to 3 separate bets each week. You cannot place the same bet on the same game.
- all bets must be in by the deadline on Sunday. Must be placed by 11:59pm EST/9pm PST
Betting Types, Terminology, and Examples
- (ML) moneyline - This is simple because you just pick who will win (V) visitor, (T) tie, or (H) home.
(V) - (T) - (H) BOS at VAN 1.75 - 45.50 - 2.25 - predicting a tie pays big because it is rare and hard to predict.
Examples: if I bet 25 BB on Vancouver then my payout if they win is 2.25 x 25 = $56.25 if I bet 25 BB on Boston then my payout if they win is 1.75 x 25 = $43.75 if I bet 25 BB on a tie then my payout if I win is 45.50 x 25 = $1137.50 - (O/U) over/under - This is a bet on the total points scored for both teams combined in a weekly matchup.
BOS at VAN 250 total points - This has a payout of 2.00 either way you bet.
Examples: if I bet 25 BB on the over and the score was 124 - 131. The total would be 255 so I would win 2.00 x 25 = $50 if I bet 25 BB on the under and the score was 124 - 131. I lose my 25 BB and they are deducted from my account. - (PS) point spread - This is when you pick a team to win but you get points to even out the difference between favorites and underdogs
BOS -7.5 at VAN - This means Boston is the favorite to win by 8 points or more. If the Point Spread was -7 and Boston won by 7 then it would be a push and your BB are returned to your account. This has a payout of 2.00 either way.
Examples if I bet 25 BB on Vancouver to cover the spread and the score is BOS 118 - VAN 112 then I win because Boston only won by 6 points. I would win 2.00 x 25 = $50
if I bet 25 BB on Boston to cover and the score is BOS 118 - VAN 112 then I lose because the did not win by enough points. I would have 25 BB deducted from my account.

This year you can place bets on all the weekly match-ups. This will be play money of course, but will be a lot of fun. We will see who has the most "Backyard bucks" at the end of the year. Hope to see all you guys take part. Hope to have all the details up later this summer.
