Can we draft prospects and put them on our prospect team?
Yup, as long as they're eligible you can send them straight to your prospect roster.

I'm going to be mostly away all weekend. Next week I'll finish loading rosters on Fantrax, get all the transactions processed and schedule the draft.
Have a great 4th everyone!

I had a question about the entry draft. Is there a predetermined amount of draft picks that we will have to take in the draft? Let's say I only have 6 available spots on my team and we have 10 rounds for the draft how would that work out?
The draft will be 10 rounds but if you only need/want 6 players you can pass after round 6. Though you can also release players to make room for draftees. Decent prospects should be out there in the later rounds.

Question:
James Wisniewski D 09-10 ranked # 50, 10-11 ranked # 15 = 4.8. Just signed by new team for 33M over 6 years. Does new contract affect my extending cost or is 4.8M per year my cost? This is all new to me, when is the draft and where would I indicate extensions? Thanks.
Oddly enough our extension is exactly the same as his actual cap hit number @ 33M for 6!

Their real contracts have no bearing on our extensions. The 4.8 price isn't right though. It's based on the higher ranking of #15, so it would be $5.5M to extend. The draft will be in a week or so, I'll have a firm date for you shortly. You can post your extension in the Transactions board (See EJ's post for reference).

Nah just the players best rank of the last 2 seasons. I didn't want to over-complicate it by using the average.

Haha, nice! Good trade for both teams. I approve pending Philly's approval.

Teams may start trading at any time. Draft picks are trade-able. Also any FA's you have control of are also trade-able. You basically will trade their negotiating rights. So if you're not going to extend an expensive player for cap reasons you may want to try to trade them to a team who can extend them and get something back.
