Los Angeles Dodgers History
2021:
3rd Place, NL West (123-39)
The
had a very good season, finishing 7th in the overall FGM standings. However,
had the misfortune of being in the highly competitive NL West. Despite winning 123 games,
finished some 17 games out of 1st in the NL West. Regardless, the
did qualify for the playoffs as a Wild Card team. Finishing as the the #5 seed in the West,
came up short in its Wild Card matchup with
, but the future looks bright for the
because it has a lot of assets, including a lot of available cap to strengthen it's roster with some key free agents.
2020:
3rd Place, Western Division (42-18)
Like the rest of the teams in FGM, the
had to endure the craziness of nationwide pandemic that affected all parts of American life, including MLB baseball. With a shortened schedule of only 60 games, the
put forth a fine effort, but came up short and did not make the playoffs. With a place of 9th in the overall standings,
fell short of qualifying for the playoffs because only the top six teams overall were given a playoff berth. Regardless,
has a lot to look forward to in the coming season and will uncountably be in the playoff hunt.
2019:
3rd Place, NL West (104-58)
The
improved some 22 games from the previous season, but it wasn’t enough and
missed the playoffs for the second year in a row. Another factor is that the NL West is probably the most competitive in the entire league, but regardless, the
are more than capable to returning to the top of the division—if they can stay healthy.
2018:
4th Place, NL West (82-77)
The 2018 season was marred by multiple injuries, and the
tumbled in the NL West standings. When their regulars get healthy, the
have a formidable lineup, so with good health and the addition of a few quality free agents, the
good fortune should return.
2017:
1st Place, NL West (133-29)
The
dominated the NL West finishing 27 games ahead of the
. The
blew away the
in the NLDS and the brushed the
aside in the NLCS to advance to the FGM World Series. But, the
bats slumped in the World Series, and
took advantage and upended the
title quest.
2016:
2nd Place, NL West (102-65)
The Dodgers had a tough season in 2016. Injuries and a PED suspension, led to some early season losses, and for the first time in eight years, the Dodgers missed the playoffs. Although the Dodgers came through with another 100 win season, it was not enough to win an eighth consecutive NL West crown.
2015:
NL Pennant, NL West Champs (78-12)
The Dodgers continued their domination of the NL West, winning the division by 20 games over the 2nd place Rockies. The Dodgers lost some players, but also added some new players through free agency. OF Mickey Brantley, C Matt Wieters, and CIs Adam Lind and Jed Lowrie helped the Dodgers make the playoffs once again. But, as in the past few seasons, the Dodgers did not make it out of the early rounds of the playoffs.
2014:
NL Pennant, NL West Champs (109-32)
The Dodgers were again led by CI Miguel Cabrera and OF Giancarlo Stanton, but also added league sensation OF Yasiel Puig to the mix. The SPs still had Zack Greinke and Chris Archer, but the Dodgers added two yound talents in Mat Latos and Sonny Gray. The Dodgers continued their domination of the NL West, finishing 15 games ahead of the 2nd place Colorado Rockes, but disaster struck in the opening round of the playoffs, with the Dodgers losing to those same Rockies.
2013:
NL Pennant, NL West Champs (108-33)
The Dodgers had another stellar year behind the hitting of CI Miguel Cabrera, OF Giancarlo Staton, and MI Hanley Ramirez. With other contributing bats, the Dodgers featured a very good corp of SPs in Zack Greinke, Jeff Samardzija, Derek Holland and Chris Archer. The Dodgers were the class of the NL West and defeated the Brewers in the 1st Round of the playoffs, but suffered defeat in the 2nd Round to the eventual league champions, St. Louis Cardinals.
2012:
NL Pennant, NL West Champs (100-62)
The two-time defending champs were going for a three-peat and were loaded with Miguel Cabera, Matt Holliday (acquired), Jason Heyward, Dan Uggla, Giancarlo Stanton, and David Price. Other mainstays such as Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez didn't have as good as seasons which caused the Dodgers to be slow out of the gate. Los Angeles finished with the best record in the regular season, beat the Astros in the NLDS, and then faced the upstart Nationals in the NLCS. In what proved to be a tremendous test, the Dodgers won their third straight NL Pennant and advanced to the World Series. The series was neck and neck in the first several games, but the start of the second fantasy week (pivotal Game 5), the Oakland Athletics came out with bats swinging. The Dodgers couldn't hold on in Game 6 and lost the World Series.
2011:
World Series, NL West Champs (107-55)
Los Angeles had no where to go but down after winning it all in 2010. However, the Dodgers were built on youth and young players such as J.P Arencibia, Starlin Castro, Mike Stanton, and Logan Morrison contributed greatly. Midseason, the team was neck and neck with Colorado for the NL West lead and the GM seat changed to the former Rockies GM, Howe. He acquired allstar slugger Adrian Gonzalez which allowed the Dodgers to win 11 more games in 2011 and run away with the division. They had the 2nd best record in MLB and beat the Cardinals in the NLDS, Brewers in NLCS, and narrowly beat the Blue Jays in the World Series.
2010:
World Series, NL West Champs (96-66)
The Dodgers picked up A.J. Pierzynski from the White Sox, signed Matt Kemp to a 5-year $82.5m deal, signed Conor Jackson, and picked up Aaron Harang. That and the prior deal with the Brewers that brought in Weeks and Hart gave the team many options with its high-talented young depth. The Dodgers remained relatively quiet in the markets throughout the season as the team was a mark of consistency in the wins columns. They were atop the NL West early and never looked back.
The team was strong, but not one of the favorites going into the playoffs. The Dodgers beat the Astros in the NLDS, then the Phillies in the NLCS, and then they stunned the New York Yankees in the World Series. It was the franchise's first World Series victory since 1988. The mid-season call-ups of Logan Morrison and Mike Stanton were huge for the offense. The team's rotation was anchored by three real-life Dodgers who each put up all-star seasons in Billingsley, Kershaw, and Kuroda. The franchise has more top talent coming up from the farm and is expected to make more runs at the World Series .
2009:
NL West Champs (91-71)
Despite a late push by the Rockies, the Dodgers had this division wrapped up most of the season just as in real life. GM M.J. Mezzetti acquired a couple bullpen hands to support his run, but most of his efforts were focused on building the best farm system in the league. His Dodgers exited the post-season quietly in the NLDS against the reigning NL-Champion Philadelphia Phillies, but his farm efforts may put his team on top for years to come... no matter what Manny Ramirez does.
