Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Re: Oilers and Penguins strike a deal
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:26:40 PM »
Penguins send:
Cody Franson
Craig Anderson
Jack Johnson
Matt D'Agonstini

Oilers send:
Marc Staal
Keaton Ellerby

Oilers do this trade to acquire Franson would is a good young dman with a cheap contract. Other players are fillers but also all solid players. Feel Staal is not worth the amount of money and want to acquire players through off-season free agency. Ellerby has disappointed on the big stage for me. Also have been looking for a 3 headed goaltending monster and Anderson will provide this. Thanks Pens for easy negotiations.
 :koolaid:

I confirm this trade. Dont have enough cap room to resign all my players whose contracts runs out this year so this was a salary cap move for me. I also get a good D in Staal and a young D in Ellerby who may turn things around.

Here is an updated list of players I am looking to move. The players that need to be signed to extensions I cannot afford all so I am looking for players with smaller salaries or draft picks.

Jason Spezza, $7.0m (2013-14)

Brooks Laich, $2.1m (2010-11)

Matt D'Agostini, $0.6m (2010-11)

Jack Johnson, $1.4m (2010-11)

Craig Anderson, $1.8m (2010-11)

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Re: Buffalo - Edmonton Trade
« on: February 22, 2011, 10:22:35 PM »
Edmonton trades
D Kevin Shattenkirk, $1.4m (2012-2013)
G Michal Neuvirth, $6m (2013-2014)

Buffalo trades
RW Drew Stafford, $1.9m (2010-2011)
D Jordan Leopold, $3m (2012-2013)

Edmonton needs a scoring RW and wants the extra cap space

Buffalo will approve trade later this evening

I agree to this trade. While I do give up two solid players I get a promising young goalie in Neuvirth and a promising young defenceman in Shattenkirk. Neuvirth gives me a decent 2nd goaltender now as well as the future.

Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Dustin Jeffrey extension
« on: February 16, 2011, 10:45:08 PM »
Pittsburgh Penguins move C Dustin Jeffrey to the active roster. Since he has played under 40 games he does not need to clear waivers. Penguins also sign Jeffrey to an extension.

Last year rank -222
This year rank -157
drafted 171st overall

Therefore, he needs to be paid at least $200k.

Penguins sign Dustin Jeffrey to a 2 year contract at $200k a year
