I’m willing to eat a chunk of Barnes to get in a better position in the draft and grab a guy in Collins whose upside I like long term

Accept. Tough to move the upside and control in Collins for what will be 1 year of Barnes, but I'm not going to be a big player come free agency to get 1 of the top SF so figured Barnes will do and fits what I'm trying to do. Similar to the Gobert deal getting a nice chunk of salary paid is key.

I thought the Mavs were going to use their free drop on Barns so I feel like this is a good trade for them for that reason alone (if not, shows what I know about basketball...)
