They were last year. I assume we can trade anytime now. Once all guys have been resigned or let go, the trade window should open up.

You may trade players that are under contract starting 10/15...anyone signed between now and 10/15 may not be traded until 6/1 (could be 60 days, but pretty sure it is 6/1). Anyone signed during the last few months of the season is still beholden to the 60 day rule. Anyone recently drafted may not be dealt until that deadline has passed (again a little fuzzy on the date - I need a rule refresher).

The Prince Fielder rule deals specifically with players whose contract expires at the end of a current season. It gives GMs no choice but to sign said player or send them to free agency. Since no date was posted in the official rules, Rob and Colby were nice enough to add 72 hours to the deadline.

RFA has been abolished. If you want someone you now have to bid on them. Should a player have accumulated enough points to merit either A or B status, then the most recent team that said player played for will receive due compensation.

For potential free agents, can someone please confirm that the team with rights to the player automatically gets draft pick compensations as soon as the player is release?

You only get compensation if the player signs elsewhere.  If for example, you have a Billy Wagner last year who would have qualified for Type A but he decides to retire and thus no one in FGM picks him up, you get nothing.

Prospect extensions can still be made.  Non-prospect extensions for contracts ending in 2011 can not be made.

You can go to the Fantrax FGM '11 National League Padres Team Roster to see who was on your team.  Then do a search on PROFSL for your prospect elegible players.  Jurrjens was $0.5m (P-2011).
