The Stars are also putting Corey Crawford, $9.5m (2016-2021) on the block for anyone who wants to make a short-term run with the veteran goalie. Flexible on return ... could go the draft pick/prospect route or take on a contract. Open to talks.

The Stars have last year's rental Alexander Radulov, $2.8m (2017-2020) on the block. Requires an extension to $7.7M ... but if you have the cap space, you can have him for a low draft pick.

The Stars are putting the best 1B goalie in hockey Jaroslav Halak, $8.3m (2018-2023) on the block.
He's signed to backup Rask again in 2020-21 ... and Cassidy likes to not overwork Rask. 200 points each year with the Bruins, averaging 6.5 points/game.
Looking for help at Center in return. Can take on a big contract.

Question about players with the franchise discount tag ... can we extend them mid-season?
I know we cannot trade them or buy them out, but can we give them a new contract if they are eligible for one (i.e. contract ending in 2021 this season)?

My vote is to keep it aligned with the NHL salary cap like we do today ... keeps it simple and isn't really an issue that needs "fixed".
I think the increased salary bans will cause more free agency / player movement organically ... and we do already have quite a bit of trade activity.

Is the supplemental draft still starting 6/27? Or has that been moved to after 7/10?
And if it starts tomorrow, has the lottery for the supp draft been run?
Last question ... are we using Fantrax or this site for the supp draft?

Still waiting to hear from the other 4 owners.
In the meantime, I'm setting up the site with the 8 teams and 2 commissioners.
The Stars and Pens are good with this ... look at that, you're getting the approval of two teams with one post
