Franchise NHL / Re: 2020 Stanley Cup Predictions?
« on: August 24, 2020, 10:53:26 PM »
Islanders have made a strong statement with a 4-0 shutout in their first game against the Flyers.

Can PPG provide a post game comment? ;-)

Franchise NHL / Re: NHL names Seattle franchise: Kraken !!!!
« on: July 26, 2020, 01:54:58 PM »

I like the whole package for the Seattle Kraken. Nice jerseys. Good use of colors. A simple S looks great. And the name is a big winner in my opinion.

I do believe the potential for their alternate jersey is huge with a name like Kraken.

Franchise NHL / Re: PLAYOFFS ROUND 2: 2019-20

At the "PAUSE"
:DAL-NHL: 36.0 @ 58.85 :NAS:
:BOS-NHL: (ATL 2) 50.1 @ 54.15 :MON-NHL: (Div Winner 1)
:NYI: (wildcard 1) 27.45 @ :PIT-NHL: (MET 2nd) 33.45
:CLG: (wildcard 2) 27.85 @ :PHO: (PAC 2nd) 34.7

That's after 3 days of round 2, anything's possible. The suspense is driving me nuts. Really can't wait for more hockey. I might even be willing to settle for simmed FNHL games on someone's video game console.
Seems like a lifetime ago that we were in the middle of Round 2. I hope the NHL can get everything off the ground in July.

For PR and myself, given all the COVID-19 impacts on the NHL's revenue, the cap for 2020-21 will likely remain the same and possibly get cut back below the current 81.5m.

So I propose FNHL takes the initiative to decide the 2020-21 cap remain the same as the 2019-20 cap figure, 81.5m cap ceiling.

Thoughts? Jump in FNHL owners.
:iatp:
:CHI-NHL: Chicago management agrees with keeping the salary cap ceiling at $81.5m for the 2020-21 season.

As for the official season end date, I suggest mid-July as well given the need to re-start owner activity in this league.

Once the Commissioners set the end date for what would have been the day after the Franchise NHL Finals, we will have plenty of time for trades, contract extensions, and preparation for roll-over and Free Agency.

The NHL and teams are exploring various cities for this plan.

Franchise NHL / Re: 2020-21 NHL Season: PREDICTIONS?
« on: April 24, 2020, 07:41:59 PM »
My guess, the 2020-21 NHL season will be truncated and feature a 45 game regular season and full playoffs.

Shortened regular season to account for the delay to the 2019-20 season completion.

45 game because they've done something similar during the last labor dispute with 48 games in 2012-13.

The season will start in December with training camps and officially start mid-January as it did in 2012-13 with the 1st regular season game was played January 19th.

Playoffs will follow the regular format with best of 7 series.
:iatp:
Well done, PPG. I think you've got a winning plan there. The start of the 2020-21 in January with training camp in December makes good sense if the NHL is able to play the rest of the 2019-20 season starting mid-Summer.

Franchise NHL / Re: FNHL COVID-19 Discussion
« on: April 10, 2020, 02:26:42 PM »
I do not believe a tournament format for the NHL Play-offs in a limited number of cities would work as the home team would want to properly profit from their existing home games. A tournament format would mean rental of facilities and lost revenue for a home arena.

What would actually work is an NHL re-start with "pre-season" games played in select designated neutral cities while waiting for all NHL cities to lift guidelines for "no public gathers" and ensure enforcement of public health and safety measures are put in place to allow arenas to be filled safely. Having worked in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo during the SARS outbreak of 2002-03, I can say that screening and checkpoints are key to keeping COVID-19 in check.

This is what I feel strongly about. My personal feeling is that unfortunately, federal governments have already completed their modelling of economic impacts given various scenarios. The US and Canada who I follow closely are working towards the dump debt on the public, keep the banks in control of the general population and the party in office wins while banks and corporations win long-term with everyone owing them money while staying compliant in underpaid desk jobs for years to come. It's a terrible economic play by Governments.

The worst part of all this, the frontline workers in all essential services are going to be taxed heavily down the road because they are the only ones generating earnings these days.

All IMHO.

I find people are very dismissive of the situation and almost daring the virus to find them. The younger they are, the more daring seems to be the trend which is dangerous. Our company has asked everyone to work remotely and use video conference tools. I've seen empty store shelves for milk, tissue paper, paper towels and toilet paper. I've been ordering groceries online and tipping the delivery people generously for being front line.

Hope every Franchise NHL owner is feeling healthy and well.

  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • Alpha5: Nah cause position eligibility. 1B/OF, 1B,3B etc
    Today at 11:02:48 AM
  • Daddy: CB/S >> DE/LB >> Taysom Hill QB/TE
    Today at 12:06:43 PM
  • Daddy: Football is just harder. You can build a team and 3 years later its irrelevant due to injury, retirement, roster turnover.
  • Alpha5: @ldsjayhawk I get the frustration but you're gonna have to get over that man haha
    Today at 12:29:52 PM
  • Alpha5: And maybe you should trade Jackson Holiday lolol
    Today at 12:32:00 PM
  • Brent: In an offsite league, I inquired about Mason Miller and the guy asked for Jackson Holliday.
  • dbreer23: Is it like a 4 team redraft league?
  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...
  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect
    Today at 12:56:05 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.
  • Brent: I am glad I cut back on leagues, I was spread too thin.
  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Today at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Today at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Today at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL
    Today at 02:10:04 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: jwalkerjr88 is right
  • BayAreaBallers: on that u havat trade a bit here and there
    Today at 02:25:57 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Today at 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
  • Alpha5: Guarantee I know who he traded Kamara to for 1-7 without even looking
    Today at 05:22:42 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: alpha it was a good trade at the time
    Today at 05:29:49 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: my team was in the Crapter at that pt
    Today at 05:29:58 PM
  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
  • Daddy: Then beat me in the NFC Title game.
  • Daddy: RB is a hard position to nail down. If someone wants to trade me 1-7 for Kamara. Step right up.
  • BayAreaBallers: I gotta see what I did
    Today at 06:05:04 PM
  • Daddy: You got better
  • BayAreaBallers: i did so many moves trades and draft that i honestly dunno
    Today at 06:18:48 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: This is the way
