Discussion: Amnesty Buyout

Don't like the buy out idea, I say lower the cap to that amount and we adjust to it....It will be hard but thats why BY aint for the faint of heart

I broke the tie as I do not mind either. If the real NHL is allowing for 1 or 2, we could afford to let go of 1. Even so 6m is quite a drop in cap, so 1 buy out might not be enough for some teams, but we definitely should not go over 1

we do like NHL for cap .... so we do like NHL and get free buyout ... plane and simple

Drew asked me to chime in.  As I am very new to this league and really am not a part of it yet it is a tough question to answer.

As I have read all the responses it seems that this league is trying to emulate the NHL as close as possible.  With 18 teams it already doesn't but that is only one observation so far!  LOL.

In the rules it says that the cap moves with the NHL cap.  So be it.  If the cap moves down by $6m then the buyout will be necessary.

Pretty plain and simple if you ask me.  I think you have no choice but to have a buyout or some teams will just be tied up too much without it really being their own fault.

vote is 11-8, somehow? but if we take one away from either side then the vote is 10-8 or 11-7 so it passes. Now we just have to determine or stipulations. I will start a new poll for one for the number of amnesty buyouts I want us to vote on. Other stipulations can be discussed here and if we need to have polls we will have them.

Some stipulations that must be upheld:
- can't be a person who was extended in the 2012-13 season
- has to be used in the amnesty period that is held after the second extension period (this meaning that teams can not sign extensions past their projected cap space in anticipation of amnesty buyout)

Nope only 18 members in the league and cho34 hasn't signed in yet. It is also up to 12-8 now so not too worried. So when it was 9-8 I believe that was right.

When I voted it was 9 - 8 in favor of the buyout, so if you are waiting for Cho, have him write out his vote

I just voted for the first time and was the 21st vote. Somebody not in the league voting? Or somebody voting more than once?
