Kings/Oilers Trade

[Drew]

While everyone else was fighting in the playoffs, myself and hockeyfreak47 we negotiating a deal. Here is what we came up with:

Oilers send:
C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, $0.2m (P-n/a)
RW Nail Yakupov, $0.2m (P-n/a)
D Kevin Bieksa, $4.1m (2013-2014)

Kings send:
G Jonas Hiller, $4.5m (2013-2014)
RW Steve Downie, $1.4m (2013-2014)
D Nathan Beaulieu, $m (P-n/a)
D Brandon Gormley, $m (P-n/a)

I get two young players that are part of my Oiler heart. I also get a solid defensive producer in Bieska while giving up two quality defensive prospects.
I wanted Yakupov due to his pure scoring ability and RNH because I love the kid. Send out a solid contributor in Downie but long term I like the youth. Also send out Hiller with getting Price and Quick, I am sure my goalies are set for quite the few years.

[Rob]

It should be noted that RNH is a P-2013 contract as his clock should have started after last season.  In the offseason last year I had Sizzrat help me audit the prospect contracts.  I'm noticing now that he missed quite a few...

Yakupov's clock also starts after this season so he'll be P-2014.

This is quite a haul for Hiller!

I saw Hockeyfreak walking away with bit of a waddle after this deal from the ravaging that Drew gave him.

i approve pending hckyfreaks approval.

I will approve because Hiller is a goalie.  But I wouldn't make this deal if I were Edmonton.  Goalies are valuable, but to me, not THIS valuable... It is one position afterall.  And seeing Hiller lose playing time to Fasth this year concerns me about his future.  I don't see it as vetoable since RNH and Yakupov still have a lot to prove.  Just saying, it's not a deal I would make.  Kudos to Drew who should be a powerhouse next season.

Rob kind of hit my basic thoughts also, I think that is too much for Hiller, but not really vetoable.

I on the other hand think its such an over-payment that its a potentially detrimental trade. With Hillers vertigo and the emergence and competition of Fasth, Hiller lost some value in my eyes this year. There are better trades that can be made to get a quality goalie.

[Tyler]

Thought long and hard here and I think I am on the  :veto: side of things.

I see it as a pretty huge over payment for a goalie that is a 50-50 starter

hockyfreak hasnt confirmed on this deal yet.  i think before cast final votes maybe we need to hear his reasoning.

[Rob]

Yea I agree.

[Drew]

Yea I agree.

I PM'd hockeyfreak but he is having internet issues so he will just need some time.
