Will we still keep our real life teams picks??

Yup, the keeper part wouldn't change.  In the supplemental we'd be able to pick from the draftee leftovers + prospect eligible players not in the entry draft.

You and papps are the only teams that traded picks, so if it is a big deal to you guys we could consider making it effective after this years draft.  Though, I'd rather beef up our upcoming draft with these eligible players than wait.

You would still have time to sign prospect eligible players until whenever we cut it off, so that sorta kinda negates the disadvantage you're at, assuming you have roster space.

I'm all for whatever is best for the league, I have a ton of young blood so I would be ok even though I traded them all away lol

Let's pull the trigger on this.  The deadline for adding prospect eligible players will be the end of FA for the 12/13 season, which is when our playoffs start, March 24.

I also added a round to the supplemental draft.  Instead of 2 rounds it will be 3.  Since there's more players in the pool it made sense to add a round.

sorry just to bump this,  do you think that by adding another round to the supplemental you are devaluing the picks again?

I would consider, taking away one of the 3 picks we get based on our team and then maybe a 3rd pick to the supplemental or leave it at 2.

reason i say this is we only have 10 minor spots.  at 3 and 3 that gives everyone 6 picks in every draft.  With that many most are going to opt out of making a pick come the 2nd 3 rd round since their team will be full in the minors.  So why would I as a team want to even bother trading for 2nd 3rd rounders when I know I have more than enough picks to fill my MILR anyways?(with the only exception to move up in the draft)

If you went 2 and 2 , it would value those picks more.  You might want to wait and see what happens as the season progresses next year but I think you will still see a very low value to the 2/3rd picks still because of a supply demand.  there still wont be a demand for late round picks because most teams wont have anywhere to put them anyways and if they do there is ample supply of teams who dont need/wont use them.

My experience has been you find a good balance when all teams use all their picks in the draft.

Yea I didn't think their would be a lot of value to be found in the 3rd round, but I think it makes sense to have it for those teams who have room and want to dig deep.  Given the increased pool of players I wanted to make sure that teams looking deep have every opportunity to grab extra players especially since we won't be able to sign any prospect eligible players after the draft.

If a team doesn't have the best keepers and have 3 other minors-eligible players on their list that might be available I want that team to get all 3 instead of having to wait another year or wait until a player hits 40 GP.

We can see how it goes, if that round doesn't get used we can discuss nixing it.  For now we're stuck with it since teams have traded picks in that round.

That 3rd round might be a lot more useful in 2014 when we'll have gone a full year without acquiring prospects via FA.

:iatp:

I think they will become way more valuable as we get away from acquiring prospects via FA
